  • Fusion Dining LLC announced a dual-branded IHOP and Applebee's will open next week in a travel plaza off Interstate 82 in Grandview. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is today at 100 Higgins Way, and the public is invited with prizes for the first 100 visitors.  Yakima Herald-Republic

  • Average gasoline prices in Yakima increased by 14.1 cents per gallon to $3.59 on Feb. 2, according to GasBuddy's survey of 91 stations—prices are 8.1 cents higher than last month yet 3.0 cents lower than a year ago.  KIMA

  • Residents with water questions in the Yakima River Basin can email reporter Questen Inghram by Feb. 6—he will seek answers for an upcoming installment of Water Pressure.  Yakima Herald-Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local lawmakers will vote on three proposals that regulate kratom by taxing and banning additives to curb youth access and boost public health. Supporters say the measures will fund prevention programs — critics fear small business harm as committee votes occur this week.  1280 NewsTalk KIT
  • Work resumed on the intersection upgrades at East Nob Hill Boulevard and Fair Avenue on Monday, Feb. 2, with overnight closures impacting traffic as improvements continued. City officials say drivers should plan ahead for possible delays.  KIMA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kittitas County Public Health Department ended its measles response after quarantined individuals completed isolation and no new symptoms were reported. Health officials urge residents to review vaccination records with their provider (as a precaution) to stay protected.  FOX 41
  • A study from researchers in Germany and Switzerland showed that a 45‑minute nap (the average duration) reduced synaptic strength to help the brain reset for learning new information. The findings suggest even a brief rest may boost focus during busy days.  FOX 41
