CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new Roots of the Valley episode premiered on Sunday, Mar. 15 when John Franklin and Dr. Patrick Lubinski discussed the Wenas Mammoth — discovered by construction crews in the mid-2000s and later examined by anthropology students. The series is now available for local viewers. KIMA
- ➤ Roho Shinda and her husband Fundi founded the Afrikan Village Culture Center near Selah in 1969 to teach African culture and host the Afro-American Players. The facility near the Yakima Training Center still stands with a replica (a Sankofa Bird) installed in 2023 after the original was stolen. Yakima Herald-Republic
