ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 19-year-old Yakima motorcyclist died in the hospital after crashing into several trees Saturday night—police said he was riding north on South 64th Avenue when he left the road near Terry Avenue around 11:15 p.m. NonStopLocal
- ➤ On Sunday, more than 100 motorcycle riders held a memorial ride for 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez, who died from injuries in a March 1st crash on State Route 240 with off-duty trooper Sarah Clasen—whose blood alcohol level was 0.17%—while his stepfather called for justice. FOX 41
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Scriptwriter Ed Bennett-Coles and songwriter Jamie Hartman have built a blockchain app called ARK—designed to protect creative work—that will help writers and artists prove they own their work. The app will launch full in summer and has already received funding from a venture capital firm and a partnership with BMI to enable creators to register files from a song demo to a finished product. - ➤ Junior water rights holders in the Yakima River Basin will receive 58% of their water allotment this year—an increase from last month's forecast of 48% following stronger March rains, though a third year of drought continues to limit water supply. KIMA
- ➤ Cowiche Canyon has become a hidden gem as the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy turned an area once deemed worthless into a protected hiking trail—showcasing its rich natural history from ancient lava flows and railroad history to traditional Native American uses. - ➤ Reentry centers across Washington may close because state budget cuts force tough choices, and six centers are at risk. Community members held a rally outside the Tri Cities Reentry Center in Kennewick on April 6th, and officials said a $12 billion shortfall is behind the proposed changes — review plans are still underway. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A HealthDay article explained that knee replacement recovery starts with nerve blocks and early movement once the spinal anesthesia wears off. Patients are usually sent home the same day or next and begin physical therapy immediately (using a mix of pain medications) while returning to light work in 2-4 weeks and heavy work in 6-12 weeks.
