- ➤ The Yakima Area Arboretum celebrated its 25th annual Arbor Day event on Saturday with the theme 'From Seed to Sapling' to stress tree health and education; local groups including WSU Master Gardeners and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife participated (curator Garrett Brenden explained conservation tips). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ John Cooper of Yakima Valley Tourism said that lawmakers plan to secure steady funding for TSA agents and air traffic controllers when Congress returns from spring break on April 13. The FAA budget will hire 2,300 trainees to ease controller shortages ahead of busy summer travel. Yakima Herald-Republic
- ➤ Summer cruise nights on Yakima Avenue are set for June 13, July 11, July 18, Aug. 8, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19, 7-11 p.m. despite delayed grant funding + the city will use 40K dollars from reserves for police overtime after council approved dates as cost-sharing options remain under discussion.
