- ➤ The Yakima County Sheriff's Office warned residents that a scammer calling as Randy Baker is threatening arrest and demanding payment through Zelle or gift cards for a missed jury summons, so residents should hang up and block the call. 1280 NewsTalk KIT
- ➤ Police have warned that violent crimes—including carjackings—occur at gas stations and convenience stores every year, urging drivers, particularly women, to choose well-lit, busy locations when fueling while local gas prices have dropped to about $4.00 per gallon, with Wheeler’s Kountry Korner in Wapato offering fuel at $3.28 and ARCO/ampm in Union Gap selling at $3.55. 1280 NewsTalk KIT

- ➤ Gas prices in Yakima fell 8.8 cents per gallon since April 6th, averaging $4.00 per gallon today (according to GasBuddy’s survey of 91 stations). The current price is 31.4 cents higher than a month ago and 38.7 cents lower than a year ago. KIMA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Claire Reid from Yakima Valley College was named to the All-Washington Academic Team for 2025. The student—one of 84 honored statewide for strong academics and extra activities—will be recognized on April 24 at South Puget Sound Community College in Lacey and plans to transfer to Central Washington University to study humanitarian work and teach American Sign Language. - ➤ The state Pollution Control Hearings Board sided with Yakima Health District in denying a permit for Caton Landfill near Naches—citing rule breaks like not having enough money for cleanup and taking in extra waste.
