  • Yakima City Council announced that summer Cruise the Avenue events will take place on select Saturdays from June through Sept. along Yakima Avenue from 7 to 11 p.m., with the final cruise corrected to Sept. 19.  KIMA
  • Yakima’s Lions Pool reopened after a staffing scramble and now offers weekday lap swims (8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 5:00–6:30 p.m.) plus a Friday recreation swim (7:00–8:30 p.m.); city leaders say the new schedule meets demand for seniors and swim teams while lowering costs.  KIMA
  • After city budget cuts ended public funding for the downtown Flower Basket Program, the Downtown Association is seeking community donations to reach a $45,000 goal.   • Grandview officials have issued a public service announcement on social media urging residents to conserve water as summer drought conditions are expected. HEALTH NEWS

  • Safe Yakima Valley warns local parents about dangers from unregulated substances such as kratom and synthetic cannabinoids amid rising poisonings.
