- ➤ On May 1, local families, workers, and groups will gather in Sunnyside for a May Day March and Resource Fair to honor workers and share local resources — the event is hosted by We Are ELLA and the United Farm Workers. The day will include a boycott action at Windmill Farms at 2:00 p.m., a march from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. starting in front of Walmart on E Lincoln Ave and ending at Sunnyview Park, and a resource fair from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. — speakers, music, and food from local vendors are planned. - ➤ Zillah is honoring its small town roots as longtime family businesses like the Squeeze Inn continue to serve the community while new projects on Vintage Valley Parkway aim to revitalize downtown. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington lawmakers approved a transportation spending plan that raises gasoline, diesel, and vehicle sales taxes—set to add $3.2 billion over six years for major highway projects, new hybrid ferries, and stream culvert improvements.
