- ➤ Yakima Health District is partnering with 1997 Café and Cocina to host a free bilingual workshop for temporary food vendors on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at 1997 Café N Cocina in Yakima. Sabores de la Comunidad will help vendors learn permitting requirements and food safety regulations—food safety inspectors will present lessons and vendors will practice mock setups while they also have a chance to win a free handwashing station. - ➤ The Yakima school board reviewed a staffing plan that cuts 48 positions—including six certified librarian jobs—as part of budget adjustments made after enrollment declines and funding cuts. Educators expressed concern for the 7,407 secondary students—citing the need for trained librarians to guide research and book selection—as district officials plan to implement the changes next year.
