- ➤ The 22nd annual Fresh Hop Ale Festival—sponsored by YCH and led by the Fresh Hop Group—will take place on October 5th at State Fair Park with over 60 breweries, wineries and cideries, food vendors and live music. - ➤ Yakima County Fire District 5 crews responded to a fire at 462 Hornsby Road near Grandview early Wednesday morning—fire damaged a double-wide mobile home with combined fire, smoke, and water damage estimated at $75,000. Yakima Herald-Republic

- ➤ A 36-year-old man died after a shooting at Chesterley Skate Park in Yakima on May 12 at 7:20 p.m. and a 22-year-old suspect was arrested and made his preliminary court appearance on May 14—he faces charges of second-degree murder, unlawful firearm possession, and assault with bail set at $200,000 and arraignment scheduled for May 27 at 9 a.m. NonStopLocal

- ➤ High school seniors in Yakima will receive HAAP and university scholarships tomorrow at 6 p.m. at YV Tech on 1120 S. 18th St, where 25 students will get awards from $1,000 to $2,000 and 15 will receive university funds from $2,500 to $10,000 or more & a special scholarship will honor the late 7-year-old Violette de la Torre. - ➤ Dr. Michael H. Mittelman— a former Navy Rear Admiral and longtime academic leader— was named the new president of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima and will assume the role on Aug 1, succeeding Interim President Dr. Robbyn Wacker after the death of Dr. Michael Lawler last August.
