- ➤ Del Monte Foods announced plans to close its Yakima fruit processing plant on Walnut Avenue—where canned pears and other products are made—and two local warehouses. - ➤ Union Gap police are investigating the death of a 63-year-old woman after her body and her dogs were found during a welfare check on Sunday in the 2100 block of Cornell Avenue & the Washington State Patrol is helping detectives with the case. Yakima Herald-Republic
- ➤ Union Gap police have identified Jose Jhovanni Quezada, 34, as the suspect in the beating death of 63-year-old Teena Ann Parise and her two dogs—a $1 million warrant was issued Tuesday and video evidence links him to the crime—while the investigation continues. Yakima Herald-Republic

- ➤ The Yakima County Fire Marshal announced a revised burn ban for unincorporated areas that will be in effect from Sunday, June 1 through Monday, September 1. Outdoor open burning such as bonfires and burning vegetation is prohibited while barbeques fueled by propane, natural gas, charcoal and wood pellet are allowed—fireworks remain banned unless permitted. - ➤ The Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field will begin modernizing tomorrow with a new roof and HVAC units, and lane closures will occur for work on the second floor and northwest corner—measures that support the terminal upgrade. A baggage claim project is planned for July and August with an overflow parking lot added later this year, and roof and HVAC work will finish by the end of October. NonStopLocal
