- ➤ Yakima Theatres will present the Free Summer Movie Series at the Majestic Theatre in Union Gap from June 25 until August 14, showing two family-friendly films twice weekly with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and movies starting at 10:00 a.m.—presented by Pepsi—to offer a fun summer event for locals. - ➤ Yakima County Sheriff’s Office led a multi-agency operation that seized about 220 pounds of methamphetamine and 9 kilograms of cocaine+ the drugs are estimated to be worth about $500,000. NonStopLocal

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington Attorney General Nick Brown is suing Toppenish's Cornerstone Ranches for allegedly firing local workers and cutting their hours while hiring H-2A foreign workers under different standards. The lawsuit covering events from 2021 to 2024 seeks monetary relief for violations of state labor laws — accusing the farm of unfair practices that affected domestic and female workers. - ➤ On June 20, the USDA Forest Service made the Annual Northwest Forest Pass available online for Washington and Oregon, letting visitors buy a digital pass for $30. The digital pass must be printed, signed + shown on a vehicle’s dashboard to access all Forest Service-operated sites. KIMA
- ➤ Starting July 1, new state laws will raise the gas tax by six cents and increase it 2 percent each year—new rules will update capital gains and estate taxes, ban use of a person’s immigration status in the workplace, and require companies with 50 or more employees to give a 60-day notice before mass layoffs by July 27.
