Nob Hill Blvd. and S. 23rd Ave. early Thursday left a 32-year-old man from Kennewick with life-threatening head injuries after he was hit by a 2014 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 39-year-old Yakima resident who was arrested for driving while impaired—police said the car was going west as the man was crossing from a parking lot. - ➤ Pacific Power installed a new device on July 1—limiting outages in West Valley after seven safety-triggered shutdowns from June 1 to July 1 affected up to 2,000 homes as the enhanced safety settings help lower wildfire risks. Yakima City Manager Vicki Baker said at Tuesday’s City Council meeting that the fix has been designed to isolate a smaller section of line so key infrastructure remains powered and service should improve.
