- ➤ Valley Mall relaunched its Kids Club series to offer free summer activities for local children, kicking off with a 'Cirque du Fun' theme and promising upcoming events like Island Adventures, Jedi Training Academy, Wizarding Wonders and Comic Con. The weekly program runs every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. until August 6th — the event also supports seasonal work for local staff and small businesses. KIMA
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters in Selah worked to contain a fast-growing fire near Wixson Park that started at 9:28 a.m. on July 9, prompting Level Three evacuation orders at the Selah Wixon Apartments and Level Two orders along Slate Road — air support and heavy equipment were deployed to protect nearby structures. - ➤ Wilson Louis Hunt will face trial on Nov. 17 in Yakima for accessory after the fact in connection with the 2018 homicide of Rosenda Strong—his trial was reset after his attorney requested extra time to prepare. Yakima Herald-Republic
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Trees along 40th Ave between Richey Rd and Englewood Ave are set to be removed today from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.—the project will reduce traffic to one lane while keeping property access open. NonStopLocal
- ➤ Grandview Police Department introduced Cash, its first K-9 officer trained to detect narcotics such as meth, cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl—he will assist officers with traffic stops, warrant services, and area searches to remove drugs from local streets. Apple Valley News Now
- ➤ Authorities have ordered Go Now evacuations for apartments at 552 and 554 South 5th Street, Selah + areas including West Wixon Park west of South 5th Street, Norte de Southern Ave, south of Crusher Canyon and east of South 10th Street; officials have also issued Be Ready! notices from Slate Road to Crusher Canyon while emergency teams work on site. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Central Washington Oral Health Foundation will hold a free dental clinic at the Yakama Nation Community Center, 600 N. Meyers Road, from July 11 to 13. The clinic will offer dental services such as fillings, extractions, teeth cleaning, along with haircuts, showers and blood pressure checks on a first-come, first-served basis—volunteers from local dental groups and health services will staff the event.
