  • The annual Serving Those Who Served conference is underway in Yakima where groups including ArtsWA—known for its wellness arts program, the Employment Security Department, and local partners help veterans find jobs and community support. CRIME NEWS

  • Yakima County Superior Court Judge Shane Silverthorn extended the no bail hold on a 48 year old man accused of killing 22 year old Jorge Vazquez Gutierrez and another man in Granger on Aug. 13 after new affidavits established probable cause—his bail hearing will continue Friday.  Yakima Herald-Republic
  • Yakima Police, including Chief Shawn Boyle, are on paid administrative leave after officers shot suspect Roberto Leyva-Sanchez on August 9 when he fired at them following the killing of his former partner Guadalupe Leyva, and the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit is investigating the incident with a decision pending from the county prosecutor.  1280 NewsTalk KIT
