- ➤ Members of 100 Women Who Care in Yakima County held their final meeting on October 9 at Public House East in Terrace Heights, where they presented a $13,700 check to YWCA Yakima and announced a $7,000 matching grant that brings Voices for Children's total to $17,600+ they also voted to support the Junior League of Yakima's Middle School Girls Summit program to build leadership in young girls. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A study in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine found that patients on ventilators who received deep sedation were 18% more likely to lose their independence—researchers say that the deep sedation may cause muscle loss which makes recovery harder. Researchers at Montefiore Einstein tracked over 10,000 patients and suggest that using medicines that do not lead to deep sedation could help patients regain movement and live on their own after hospital care.
