- ➤ Yesterday, Yakima held its Veterans Day parade that kicked off at 10:45 a.m. on Naches Avenue, traveled west on Yakima Avenue to 6th Avenue, and ended at 12:30 p.m. Officials said 750 participants and 50 vehicles took part—downtown streets were closed from 8:45 a.m. and a Marine ceremony began at 1:00 p.m. at Sarg Hubbard Park. 1280 NewsTalk KIT
- ➤ Yakima city and the Downtown Association are asking residents to nominate an evergreen from their property as the Community Christmas Tree to be installed at Millennium Plaza. The tree—standing 15 to 25 feet tall and accessible for a crane—will be selected by Nov. 14 with a tree-lighting ceremony set for Dec. 7, and the owner will incur no removal cost.
