  • Visitors to the Yakima Valley Museum on Tieton Drive can explore lively exhibits that change frequently and celebrate local history (including a kid-friendly area) while enjoying treats at the Soda Fountain restaurant. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washington State University will transfer its 28 Yakima-based nursing students to Tri-Cities or Spokane after the spring semester ends — a move prompted by budget and staffing constraints while advisors support timely graduations.  KIMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Highway 12 in Naches reopens after repairs nearly completed following December’s heavy rain that washed out 300 feet of embankment. WSDOT and Apollo Inc. will have single-lane closures starting Feb. 16 to paint stripes + install guardrails while part of the Yakima Greenway Trail stays closed for fencing.  Yakima Herald-Republic
