ECONOMY NEWS

  • Data from GasBuddy shows Yakima gas prices rose nearly 55 cents per gallon over the last month, averaging $4.24 as of March 9 with prices ranging from $3.56 + $5.19 amid rising national fuel trends driven by regional supply concerns.  KIMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city is asking local organizations to submit letters of interest by 2:00 p.m. on March 25 to manage two community centers facing closure: the Washington Fruit Community Center & Harman Senior Center. Washington Fruit may close at the end of June and Harman is set to close at year’s end.  NonStopLocal
  • Lions Pool closed on Feb. 27 after budget cuts, leaving local advocates and officials meeting to explore cost-saving measures (like reduced hours or seasonal use) and additional funding options for reopening the indoor facility for swim lessons and competitive meets.  Yakima Herald-Republic

  • The American Red Cross urges donors this March to give blood or platelets to help keep the national supply steady amid a looming severe weather threat.
