COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fisher Park Golf Course, a par-3 9-hole course at 823 South 40th Avenue across from Eisenhower High School, will open for the 2025 season on Friday, March 28th—its seasonal schedule runs from March through October.  KIMA
  • Today, First Baptist Church held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Shiloh Youth Housing Project that will give local youth safe living spaces with four homes for students, a mentor and the director. The church has raised $400,000 of its $1.2 million goal — it still needs $800,000 and will order the homes this summer so they can open by late this year or early next year.  KIMA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sue Lombard Horsley helped start the Yakima YWCA and led it as president from 1909 to 1918—she also became the first woman regent at what is now Central Washington University, where a dorm is named in her honor. Her work in education and community service left a lasting mark on our local history.  Yakima Herald-Republic
