COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Yakama Warriors held a ceremony at Sarg Hubbard Park Saturday to honor all veterans, including those of Vietnam, with a 21-gun salute and helicopter flyover. The group also announced that March 30 will be Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day as part of their effort to expand benefits.  Yakima Herald-Republic

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Yakima Symphony Orchestra will perform at Davis High School for the 2027-2028 season as the Capital Theatre undergoes renovations. The orchestra partners with the school district to expand student concerts and will install a temporary stage extension designed by Arts Tech Group.  KIMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Sunnyside Police Department is raising funds to support its first police dog in over a decade, with donations coming from local businesses (including Tractor Supply and Sunnyside Police Guild) and individuals. Donations can be dropped off at SPD or mailed to 401 Homer St, Sunnyside.  NonStopLocal
  • Yakima County Sheriff's Office K9 Khaos will receive a U.S.-made bullet and stab protective vest — certified by the National Institute of Justice — from nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.; donated by Paula and Jacobi Richard, the vest honors fallen CSPD K9 Roam and is expected within 10 weeks.  NonStopLocal
  • Washington’s WE-Bike e-bike rebate program reopens today, offering online rebates of $300 or $1,200 to state residents aged 16 & up for qualifying electric bikes. Monthly selections start April 13 and continue until March 29 next year.  NonStopLocal
