- ➤ The Harman Senior Center in Yakima offers a range of affordable events for adults 50 and up, from Bunco on Friday to Bingo on Saturday and Zumba on Tuesday, and also provides craft classes, walking ballroom and food events throughout the month; the center supports seniors on fixed incomes. 1280 NewsTalk KIT
- ➤ Yakima Birth Bingo is a free event for expecting families hosted by local doula groups at 109 E 3rd Ave in Selah on Sunday, Apr. 26 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The organizers limit attendance to 50 guests (to ensure a close-knit experience) and will offer fun prizes. 1280 NewsTalk KIT

- ➤ This Friday (6 a.m.) Major’s Restaurant in Yakima will offer $25 certificates for half price while supplies last. The deal gives customers a chance to enjoy their popular burgers, fish baskets and shakes at local locations. 1280 NewsTalk KIT
- ➤ Taco Time, a local favorite on 16th and Nob Hill that has served Yakima residents since 1977, closed Monday, April 6. There is no update yet on what new business will replace the location across from Yakima Valley College. 1280 NewsTalk KIT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Yakima Federal Savings and Loan offers up to $217,500 in scholarships for area seniors who must rank in the top 10% and live in Yakima, Kittitas, Benton or Franklin counties. Applications are due by Monday, April 20 + recipients are notified by June 1 after enrollment. 1280 NewsTalk KIT
- ➤ Yakima Valley College held its annual Career and Transfer Fair Monday at the Hopf Union Building to link students with local employers in health care, tech, and business and to explore transfer options. The event offered face-to-face networking — helping students plan for immediate work and further education. KIMA
- ➤ Educational Service District 105 will give 20 Yakima Valley educators a $3,000 RISE scholarship for teaching credentials or school leadership—applications opened Monday, Apr. 6 and close Tuesday, Apr. 13. The program, funded by a Seattle foundation, aims to support teacher advancement. KIMA
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Hogback Development purchased the 32-acre site on West Nob Hill Boulevard across from West Valley Walmart and plans to build retail, restaurants, banking, healthcare, and multi-family housing over the next five years. An extended-stay hotel is planned (the brand has not been decided) to boost local tax revenue and jobs. Yakima Herald-Republic
