BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new fabric shop named Nana's Quilt Shop has opened on Nob Hill plus offers fabrics, quilting supplies, and longarm quilting services with hours Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Quilting classes will begin soon, according to owner Robin.  1280 NewsTalk KIT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lawmakers approved a 25% funding cut to Washington’s Transition to Kindergarten program, which will reduce access for nearly 2,000 students next year. Educators in Yakima County and nearby areas say the cuts may force districts to rely more on local levies as they adjust budgets amid rising costs.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Yakima School District will host an information session on Tuesday, April 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at its district office (104 N. Fourth Ave) to explain the bond planned to replace Hoover and Garfield elementary schools and answer community questions.  Yakima Herald-Republic

  • Teacher Lacey Moore discovered a lump while teaching kindergarten in Selah and was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She began treatment at the MultiCare Cancer Institute at the North Star Lodge in Yakima — where Dr. Rubin tailors care to her needs.  KIMA
