  • During the first quarter, Yakima Valley Tourism hosted the Greater Yakima Chamber After Hours at the Visitor Information Center near Target—and distributed 120,000 copies of the 2025 Travel Guide. They also showcased local wineries at Taste Washington, backed state high school championships and will launch an Ambassador Program by June.  Yakima Herald-Republic

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A drunk driver struck Kiki and her brother Will in Montana while they drove from Airway Heights to Florida to pursue her Disney World career dreams; she sustained severe injuries that required surgery and remains hospitalized, leaving her future at Disney World uncertain.  NonStopLocal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Yakima Area Arboretum hosted its 24th annual Arbor Fest to celebrate Arbor Day by offering free environmental education for all ages. Local nonprofits and government agencies organized interactive activities—teaching tree care and nature preservation—while the event enjoyed beautiful weather.  NonStopLocal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • About 200 people attended a town hall at Yakima Convention Center on April 9 to ask Rep. Dan Newhouse to meet with constituents in person and address issues like health care, immigration enforcement and economic uncertainty.
