- ➤ The 75th annual Central Washington Junior Livestock Show will take place from Sunday through Wednesday, April 27-30, at the Toppenish Rodeo Grounds at 500 S. Division St, where children and teens from the Yakima Valley will show beef, sheep, and hogs. - ➤ Yakima Bishop Joseph Tyson led two Masses on Monday that reflected on Pope Francis’ death at the Vatican less than 24 hours after many Catholics celebrated Easter and recalled the pontiff’s care for migrants and refugees. The diocese will honor his legacy at the Hispanic Conference for Family Evangelization at the Yakima Valley SunDome from Friday through Sunday — a move aimed at easing fears in the community amid harsh deportation rhetoric. - ➤ Voters approved Proposition 1 with 15,311 in favor and 6,098 against a 0.2% sales tax increase set to fund a $35 million police radio system over the next seven years—votes that followed low turnout of roughly 21,000 ballots.
