- ➤ City of Yakima has begun a $2,206,000 project to build new water and sewer systems in its underserved northeast area on June 23, with work set to expand to the south-central area on Oct. 7 and finish by February next year—officials say temporary road closures and a brief water outage will occur during construction. - ➤ The Washington State Department of Transportation and the Yakama Nation are planning a new path along U.S.97 to give bikers and walkers a safer route between Union Gap and Toppenish.
