Good morning, Yakima. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 1st of July.

HEALTH NEWS

  • A study published June 25 in Neurology found that people living in disadvantaged neighborhoods had higher levels of inflammation and tau proteins linked to Alzheimer’s disease—results that may guide healthcare providers in recommending lifestyle changes to lower dementia risk. Researchers tracked 334 older adults over several years to show that the stress of poverty can raise these biological markers.  FOX 41
  • Two candidates have applied for the Yakima Health District health officer position. They are Dr. Jennifer Maxwell, a family physician with medical director experience, and Dr. Dave Atteberry, a board member who serves as interim health officer—board officials have created a subcommittee to conduct an abbreviated interview process with Yakima County residency required.  Yakima Herald-Republic
