BUSINESS NEWS

  • Alaska Airlines resumed operations on July 20 after a three-hour IT outage grounded flights at 8 p.m. Pacific time + the outage affected both Alaska and Horizon Air flights. The airline said some residual delays will continue as crews and aircraft are repositioned + further schedule adjustments may occur.  FOX 41

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ideal weather and strong retail prices have led to one of the best cherry harvests in years, with over 22.5 million 20-pound boxes expected and much of the fruit sold domestically—growers in Yakima and beyond face challenges from a labor shortage and potential tariffs. Laborers, including many H-2A guestworkers, start early in orchards near Tieton and other regions to ensure high-quality organic fruit reaches market before trade changes impact shipments.  Yakima Herald-Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers near Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field will see temporary parking and lane changes starting Monday, July 28th — crews will replace three canopies as part of a terminal modernization that includes a new roof and new HVAC system due for completion by October.  KIMA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rite Aid pharmacy closures across the state may disrupt access to prescriptions as the Washington State Department of Health warns people to check when their local pharmacy will close and where prescriptions will be transferred. Customers should contact their pharmacy three to five days before refills are due to avoid disruption.  NonStopLocal
