- ➤ On Saturday, August 23rd, the Borrachos Car Club hosted its biggest car show in Granger with over 300 vehicles ranging from pickup trucks to low-riders. The show offered 50 classes — 100 trophies and featured custom builds by members such as Greg Cyr and Herb Horn. KIMA

- ➤ On Aug. 9, a police shooting near South Third Street headquarters put 14 officers on paid leave as officials reviewed the use-of-force and provided extra support for stress—Morales now faces several charges while his brother was shot dead after firing at officers. Yakima Herald-Republic

- ➤ Dr. Michael Mittelman began as the new president of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences on August 1—bringing decades of military medicine, leadership and service experience to rural and underserved communities to guide the school’s mission. Yakima Herald-Republic

- ➤ Crews began roundabout work near Fruitvale Boulevard—34th Avenue on August 23rd and commercial trucks have been rerouted until the work finishes in early September. Drivers are asked to follow detours as traffic control changes continue in the area. KIMA
