  • Marques Carlos Cardenas, 21, entered an Alford plea for second-degree murder and assault for fatally shooting Luis Moses Castaneda on May 27 in Sunnyside — he was sentenced to 18 years by Yakima County Superior Court as Castaneda’s family continued to grieve.  Yakima Herald-Republic

  • A report by Oxfam America ranked Washington fifth in the nation for worker benefits for the third consecutive year, evaluating wages, worker protections and the right to organize.
