- ➤ On September 28th, Gold Star Family Day will honor Yakima service members who died in the line of duty — the American Legion will display 14 names to remind visitors of their sacrifice. KIMA
- ➤ Livestock entries are open for the 2025 Central Washington State Fair, scheduled for Sept. 19-28 at the SunDome — exhibitors can enter swine, cattle, goats and sheep and join classes including a Pee-Wee division and costume competitions — with entries due by Sept. 8. KIMA

- ➤ An SUV rolled off Route 22 near Granger early Sunday morning injuring three minors when it hit a canal embankment—troopers said drugs or alcohol were involved and charges are pending for the driver while two victims were taken to Multicare Yakima Memorial Hospital and one to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Powerhouse Road near Gleed and plans to open its new self-service yard by Oct. 1—giving customers more space to pull parts from older vehicles. A Baskin Robbins store at 3802 W. - ➤ On Monday morning, Yakima police said a 27 year old man was fatally shot near the 1800 block of Cornell Avenue — another person with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds was hospitalized as the investigation continued. NonStopLocal

- ➤ Yakima Valley Emergency Management issued a Level 1 evacuation notice for Goose Prairie on Monday due to the Wildcat Fire growing near Bumping Lake — Bumping River Road is closed to the public while firefighters use helicopters and scooper airtankers to drop water on the fire. - ➤ WSDOT crews will start a new roundabout at Lateral A in Wapato today as part of a safety project with the Yakama Nation, and they will repave SR821 in East Selah finishing this fall while beginning embankment repairs along U.S.12 near Rimrock Lake starting Sept. 8 — a detour will add 20 minutes of travel — with the repairs expected to finish by mid-October.
