  • Thorp-Splawn Pioneer Cemetery near I-90 holds graves of early settlers including Fielden Mortimer Thorp—Yakima County's first sheriff—and at least 12 unmarked graves believed to belong to Splawn descendants.  Yakima Herald-Republic

HEALTH NEWS

  • MultiCare's new 10,000-square-foot emergency department opens today at 38 Adelyn Way near Valley Mall Boulevard in Union Gap, offering 10 exam rooms, a triage room, onsite pharmacy, lab and radiology services in a facility that cost about $25 million — it is not a trauma center but will stabilize patients for transfer and serve about 80 to 90 patients daily with three nurse shifts and interpreting devices for Spanish speakers.  Yakima Herald-Republic
  • On November 2nd, the FDA announced new restrictions on prescription fluoride supplements after the Make America Healthy Again commission requested a review of the risks and benefits; the agency advised against their use for children under three and those at low or moderate risk for tooth decay.  FOX 41
